Polluting pets: the devastating impact of man's best friend - Yahoo! News

PARIS (AFP) –Man's best friend could be one of the environment's worst enemies, according to a new study which says the carbon pawprint of a pet dog is more than double that of a gas-guzzling sports utility vehicle.

I was shocked in what I read in this article. Even though I don't have a pet now, I totally think they are wonderful!

Reha Huttin, president of France's 30 Million Friends animal rights foundation says the human impact of eliminating pets would be equally devastating. "Pets are anti-depressants, they help us cope with stress, they are good for the elderly," Huttin told AFP.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

When they're ready to talk about the humans impact, then I'll be ready to listen, in the mean time, I feel that research that determins such trival matters is a waste of money. JMO

I'd like to know who did the research and who paid for it. There are many more important things to do research on. What a waste of money and time.
