    Observations on Growing Older

    ~Your kids are becoming you... and you don't like them... but your grandchildren are perfect! (Duke, see note to you below!)

    ~ Going out is good. Coming home is better.

    ~When people say you look "Great"...they add "for your age!"

    ~When you needed the discount you paid full price.
    Now you get discounts on everything, movies, motels, flights, but you're too tired to use them.

    ~You forget names, but it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!

    ~The 5 pounds you wanted to lose is now 15 and you have a better chance of losing your keys than the 15 pounds.

    ~You realize you're not ever going to be good at anything ...especially golf.

    ~Your spouse is counting on you to remember things you don't remember.

    ~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don't care to do them anymore.

    ~Your spouse sleeps better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than he does in bed. It's called "pre-sleep".(that's me!)

    ~Remember when your Mother said, "Wear clean underwear in case you GET in an accident?" Now you bring clean underwear in case you HAVE an accident!

    ~You used to say, "I hope my kids GET married"...Now "I hope they STAY married!"

    ~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch.

    ~When GOOGLE, ipod, email, modem...were unheard of, and a mouse was something that made you climb on the table.

    ~You now use more four letter words..."what??"..."when??"

    ~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.

    ~You read 100 pages into a book before you realize that you've read it.

    ~Notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!

    ~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.

    ~Everybody whispers.

    ~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet..two of which you will never wear.

    ~~~~But old is good in some things:
    Old songs
    Old movies
    and best of all OLD FRIENDS!!
    Duke, love you and your brother as much as ever and grandchildren are perfect!
    I've still got my smaller signs jeans in the closet and not put away, hoping to wake up to a Miracle of small-ness and be able to wear them immediately! Lying to oneself isn't a bad thing, it's kind of like keeping hope alive!
    My smallest size has been hanging around in my closet for about......ahem......five years. I've parted with some things, but I can't bring myself to part with the others. I SWEAR TO GOD that I will one day fit back into those beloved clothes before they are out of style.......wait.....perhaps they already are out of style.
    Don't worry, LovingSpirit; isn't the saying 'what's old is new again?'
    Ya, ya, I'll have had them so long that they will be back in style soon.
    Me, too....but usually for me it's not about style, it's that they will fit once more! Ahhhh, to dream is to hope is to live!
    Re: Observations on Growing Older
    That part about the clother reminded me of my grandma. She hold one to every single piece of clothing she ever had. The other day she was showing some stuff she is making for me and found this horrible robe she had bought 20 years ago. It was still in the box, she never used it!
    I asked her why she never used it, and she answered "Well, it's really ugly!" So I asked why did she buy something she didn't like? Answer- "the salewoman said it was really pretty on me". x)
    So I went thru my closet recently and pulled out all the nice dresses I used to wear when I thought I wanted to be a receptionist in an office. Today I'm taking them all to the consignment shop. I don't wear them anymore and altho they are all quite lovely, they are styles I thought I should wear for an office environment. I really have no need for them any longer as they really are not "my style".
