    Bedside Manners

Susie's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months. Things looked grim, but she was by his bedside every single day. One day as he slipped back into consciousness, he motioned for her to come close to him. She pulled the chair close to the bed and leaned her ear close to be able to hear him.

"You know" he whispered, his eyes filling with tears, "you have been with me through all the bad times. When I got fired, you stuck right beside me. When my business went under, there you were. When we lost the house, you were there. When I got shot, you stuck with me. When my health started failing, you were still by my side. "And you know what?"

"What, dear?" she asked gently, smiling to herself.

    "I think you're bad luck."

    --------------

I was taking a sip of my cola when I read this one and darn near got it up my nose from laughter.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

Sure blame the joke for the tremendous vacuum caused by your honker.

I enjoyed the joke and the banter after. Decided to bump it back up.

Hahahaha! That's hilarious! I kind of know how the guy feels. I was talking to my Dad the other day and he said his co-workers use to tell him a dark cloud must follow him everywhere he goes. If he didn't have bad luck, he'd have no luck at all.

I just told him it was a thing called life and bad stuff happens to everyone, not just him.
