    PC Maintenance for Dummies

I've been thinking of creating a thread like this for some time to help out those who may be less experienced or knowledgeable in terms of keeping their PC healthy.

Just out of curiosity, would a rough guideline help any of you if it included general and easy to follow information on how to keep your PC's running healthy?

...incidentally, I borrowed the name from the popular "Insert Topic Here for Dummies" manuals and it is in no way pointed toward anyone here.

    Sure Duke, sure.

I for one would LOVE such a thread. I know a few things so perhaps I might even be able to contribute some information as well.

I think it would be a great idea. There is always something new to learn.

    lol @ LS.

The reason for this idea is we can ALL learn something new from a thread such as this (myself included). I just recently learned something about why Windows Explorer was always crashing on me and it was something I'd never expected before.

I'll talk to IR_Efrem and see if there's a good amount of basic things that we can document to help the average PC user.

What was the reason for the crashing Duke? Since I have upgraded to Windows 7 I haven't had much trouble but I used to have issues where explorer would freeze up and I would have to reboot. Once, before I knew better, I used task manager to kill it thinking that would help. I was unaware that 90% of windows relies on it and caused my computer to die suddenly. I have never done that since. Ha Ha.

It was Task Management Software that was causing my issues.

I'll post more about it in the existing topic, didn't have time to update it last night.

I would LOVE that....but getting me to read it is a whole other story.
