Has anyone been following this story of the lost penguin?

Hundreds of people have gathered at the Wellington Zoo in New Zealand to say goodbye to Happy Feet the penguin.

A New Zealand scientific research ship will take the world-famous traveller back to home waters on Monday.

The emperor penguin was around 4,000 kilometres from his Antarctic home when he was found washed up on a beach near Wellington in June.

He has spent the past two months at Wellington Zoo recovering from operations to remove sand and sticks from his stomach.

He will travel in a crate designed to keep him cold and comfortable during the voyage and will be released near Campbell Island, within the natural feeding range of juvenile emperor penguins.
