    Animals in the Neighbourhood

Well, we can't actually call them pets but we've had a skunk or two in the neighbourhood this week and the smell permeates everywhere. This morning a raccoon decided to visit and crashed around the deck. My husband went to check the crashing, and the raccoon almost came in the door. It was just in time he was able to close it.

Maybe the Racoon wanted to help with the jigsaw

At the moment we have a couple of hedgehogs wandering about (way too early for them) which is not too bad except that the dogs think they are spikey balls and want to play with them

How far did your dog get trying that, Rosie?

Every so often now the smell from skunks permeate the outdoors, but no actual sign of them.

I remember skunk smell very well - once smelt, never forgotten.

The hedgehogs decided they'd had enough of being footballs for the dogs and the dogs ended up with a couple of fleas .......... so am glad the little prickly balls have left the area

I wish these skunks would leave, too! I can't imagine only one here that puts up that kind of smell which gave me a headache yesterday. Thank goodness it doesn't last the entire day though.

It now seems the weather has brightened up for some of the field mice to make an appearance from our neighbour's shed. Not good for the two pups

It's ok - the mice tend to stay under the wooden boards and torment the dogs.

That must be terribly annoying to the dogs.

It's quite fun to what the dogs as they tilt there heads side to side, listening then suddenly pouncing on the panels :-). At least it's better than when the moles come up and they start digging up the garden - again!

There are problems with deer eating up garden plants as well.

We don't have the problem with deer, more likely to be footballs from the neighbour kids he he
