    The USA is goofy

While waiting on matthewmurcia to start that political thread he promised me...someone sent me this in email.
    -----------------------------------------------------

Have you noticed how Great Britain seems to be making a fool out of us lately.

Regarding the Russian submarine snarled in underwater cables a couple of weeks ago.......By the time we cleared all the bureaucratic "B.S." and got started, Great Britain had arrived, completed the rescue of the seven men trapped in the submarine, and were cleaning up.

England's Prime Minister Blair made a national speech yesterday in which he more or less said he didn't give a damn what color you were, what religion you practiced, or how long you'd been in England…anyone stirring up trouble was OUT…DEPORTED…GONE! We're having a hell of a time keeping men, women and children from crossing the borders illegally, we support them when they get here, and put people in jail for reporting them.

Within days of the terrorist attacks in England, Scotland Yard had accounted for every man involved. We're still looking for 9/11 terrorists, can't find Bin Laden, and are now trying to get "permission" to search people who might have bombs. While the rest of the world is dealing with major problems, we've got the whole damn Congress fighting over appointment of one Judge and whether or not the Atlanta Braves can keep their mascot.

We've become so politically correct we look like idiots to the rest of the world

Sadly enough....it's just TOO TRUE! I wonder why other countries can just do their own thing and we are always arguing over piddly crap.

So if Spain beats England at football, the entire team is deported? :? Or even worse. If you are the leader of the oposition, you can be deported? Wow. In Stalinist Russia you would be kept at least in the same country.

I would assume if they were gong to England to play any sort of sports...they would be there legally. I think any country has the right to deport people who haven't followed the required legal process to be there. If they aren't there legally....then you don't know who is in your country. We have tons of problems with that issue because we are so big and they come in from all sides.

The point is, if a person is there legal, you can't deport them easily. If you would say: "Blair is a lying bastard", that should fall under Free Speech, and not on stirring up problems. And what is stirring up problems? Would such a law allow for the displacement of the more radical Catholic population from Northern Ireland, for instance?

In many countries, being illegally inside is not a crime - so you cannot be deported for that, nor be sent to prison for that. And even being somewhere illegally, at least grants you protection of the constitution of said country.

Thus the issue is why should an Englishman be entitled to hold said opinion of Blair, and not get deported, locked away in jail, when an illegal Pakistani (just an example) would get that treatment? Where is the equality in law for all in that?

I find the proposals of Blair dangerous. Where to draw the line? A gulag archipel in Blackpool?

Well...I guess if someone is illegal in a country...that would suggest they can't pay taxes. So..they are usurping resources paid by the legal residents. I see the point....it just isn't fair.

This is why I agree with Mexicans being given, at least, viable worker cards to allow them to work in the US. Then they have to pay payroll taxes..... just like the rest of us do.

If he had papers he could be getting paid a lot more, but people dont care much about guys like him...

That's just the deal Hezekiah....no matter how wonderful a blanket law/idea/standard may sound.....there are always those of us who know people who are caught in the middle of it.

In a country as big as the US.....it's hard to agree on a uniformed law regarding immigration because we all know people who don't deserve the outcome of that law. A worker's permit with a temporary SS number is about the only way to deal with those who really DO come to the US just to work in peace and make a living for their families. But then...there are the rest who just take advantage of thei benefits. It's an impossible call.

Personally....I think we should support the good ones. If the bad ones take advantage.....well....then we'll have to deal with that one to one. If we are indeed a melting pot.....'give me your tired and poor' type of country.....then we'll have to accept the good with the bad.

Yes...but when that motto was adopted...the people who came to this country learned the language, embraced the Hodge podge of people. Now most of them, especially the ones coming from our southern border, want to turn this into a version of the country they just left. If they would learn the language and pay taxes then I don't think people would have half the problem with them that they do.

I don't know about other places...but the Mexicans and hispanics who live around here act as if WE OWE THEM SOMETHING because they come to live in our country, and 90% of them illegally! It chaps my arse. I can't stand to go to WalMart anymore because they go there in droves. They'll be 15 of them walking down an isle together and when they leave the shelves are empty!

I can't say anything bad about the mexicans...and I mean the real mexicans that walked 5 days through the desert and almost died to get to a better country.

You NEVER EVER see them begging for money, EVER. It's the whites, blacks and indians every single time. They are out at 4am in the summer waiting for work, they bust ass ALL DAY long and are happy making 8 bucks an hour. I loved working with them in my stay in Arizona. They know how to work hard and will put any gringo to shame.

Again, I can't say anything bad about them, coming illegally or not - as I did the exact same thing, except I'm a white guy

There is a difference between the mexicans and the american born mexicans. A damn big difference.

Thank all those wonderful tree-hugging liberals and liberal ideas.

NO other country is without political folly and and turmoil and can just 'do their own thing' spreading happy-happy joy-joy good feelings to the citizens of said country.

Liberals want us to keep the borders open, not adopt an official language, teach in public schools the children of hispanic desent that they should hate the USA, stop driving cars (well, except for the limosine liberals) and separate the classes while not admiting that there are classes. (ever looked at the percentage of what liberals donate to charities vs. what conservatives donate? Huge gap!)

Would it be perfect if it were a completely conservative country? No, it would not be perfect, but it would be a damn sight better than the socialist government the liberals want.

OK, I'm off the soapbox now.

It *was* a melting pot society at one time. Think about what a melting pot is: Separate ingredients melt together to form something solid and unified.

The term now is "salad society" because the ingredients DON'T mix - they stay separate and even the oil and vinegar dressing don't mix. They can be good, but they are not solid and they are not very fulfilling.

The present situation is a challenge but a worthwhile one-the WASPs have had their value system go uncontested for too long...
