no, if they really gave an advantage every disabled runner would be faster and he is the only one that has even been close to normal people's times.

I know it is slightly off-topic, and that the thread had been buried for nearly six years but:

Oscar Pistorius due in court after shooting - Times LIVE

Sadly the Blade Runner proved himself to be all too human. Mistaking his girlfriend to be a burglar, and shooting her dead on the scene. These things seem to be happening more and more worldwide.

Interestingly enough, this may be yet another intimate murder. The state is holding him for murder - and two hours before the incident the police were called to the scene for a domestic fight.

I guess we will hear more and more as time goes by. All so shocking and sad.

We'll see. It is a high profile case and that means he won't get off lightly, if the rumours about what happened are true.

It sure is shocking and very sad; especially how he's overcome so much and become an inspiration, and now for this to happen.

    Re: Blade Runner

The latest news that i recieved is that "He hasnt got a leg to stand on"

OK, so now the bad jokes are out of the way. I find it hard to believe that he mistook her for an intruder nd i do think there is much more to what has happened. The problem is that we only recieve the media reports and as such, we tend to make an opiion which is based purely upon 3rd party comments.

Whichever way it goes.....its a sad thing indeed.

I must say wife killing is a national sport in South Africa too, and from the reports that emerge it could well be that Oscar is a winner in that competition too.

    More on this tragic event.

The father of Oscar Pistorius' slain girlfriend has told a South African newspaper the athlete will have to "live with his conscience" if he is lying about how he killed her.
In its Saturday edition, the Afrikaans-language Beeld newspaper quotes Barry Steenkamp as saying Pistorius will "suffer" alone if his assertion that he accidentally shot 29-year-old Reeva Steenkamp is false.
Barry Steenkamp says he might be able to forgive Pistorius one day if the double-amputee Olympian is telling the truth.

He has been granted bail, but each time he wants to leave Pretoria, he will have to ask permission. Naturally he has to stay in the country and all that jazz.

I also understand he cannot go to his home where the shooting happened.

That is correct. But he has already made a killing in endorsement deals, so it is not like he is without any options.
