Some scenarios:
(1) When a child is talking to you, do you really listen or just can't wait to interject your own opinion?
(2) Do you really listen or add 'aha' 'mhm' 'yes' 'no'?
(3) When they have something to tell you that's whimsical and important to them, do you take the time to listen, or say you just don't have the time right now?
(4) Following from (3); if you didn't have the time to listen due to an important task, would you get back to the child to hear their story as soon as possible?
(5) Following (4); if the child walks away disheartened because you didn't have the time right now...how would that make you feel and what would you say to put the smile back on his/her face?
