Thank you so much for your Thanksgiving wishes! We had a very nice meal with MIL yesterday. We enjoyed eachothers company, watched a movie and then had some incredible deserts! It was GREAT! Too bad SIL missed it all.

    Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

It's that time of year again. Thought I'd bump this up.

I hadn't planned on doing anything this year other than gettting out of the house but last week I told that "we" were doing the turkey dinner. There will be just me, my daughter, and my parents.

I think I will try a dry brine on the turkey this year and then bbq it on the Traeger. Got a 10.5 lb bird, probably do mashed potatos, stuffing, a big salad, some cranberry sauce and a blackberry pie Mom is bringing. The stuffing I'm going to do in the crock pot so we'll see how that goes.

Daughter has to work until 2:00 so eventhough she said she'll cook everything but the bird, I'll probably take care of it all.

Anyone else south of the border have plans?

Since both of my kids are gone we are going to a restaurant. That is a first. Going to be weird. I can count on one hand how many times I didn't cook in the last 25 years. Still going to get my free turkey from work and maybe cook it this weekend anyway for the nostalgia and scents of cooking. Plus I want the left overs.

May You all have a Blessed "Thanksgiving Day!"
I haven't been here to read what's been going on, related to some health issues, and lack of desire. Still having some health issues, but I am thankful for whatever state I am, if it gives God glory. He has been working faithfully in every day. I am now facing tests related to national hip recall, of which I was a recipient of in 2008, and have been having trouble with since. Just never could get anyone to look past the x-ray. I just have been referred to see a different specialist in another area. I did not know whether to shout for joy, when I received the recall letter, or cry. It has been a long journey, but I feel like there is hope. Will be having blood work, bone scan, nerve testing, etc.
    love and joy, ((HUGS)) Joy
I feel like this little bird, I wrote this poem
one morning a couple of months ago.

    "HOPE"
A bird with a broken wing
Can't fly high or soar anymore.
And has lost his voice to sing.

    Not worth much of anything
    He's shattered, broken and torn.
His last breath he still will cling.

    Only one more flying fling!
    A gentle touch offered much.
Hope swells within, he now sings.
    (c) JOY

    Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm not sure what I'll be doing this year. I found out that the store will be closed, so I'll have Thanksgiving day off, but that means I'll be losing hours *grumps*

I usually go do the whole stuff-your-face thing at my grandmother's house, where all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, and farther extended family on my grandmother's side get together. I've never really enjoyed it though, in fact I usually dread it. I'm not comfortable being around all those extended family members that I only see once a year. And the food has never actually been very good, and has gotten worse over the years as my grandmother has trouble getting her recipes right these days. Still, I know I'm expected to be there.

We were also invited to my boyfriend's cousin's house this year. I've never met them so that'll be nice and strange if we decide to do that instead.

I'd LIKE to go to my dad's house, since I'm positive that's where the best food will be. I won't be invited, though.

Yay! And we are off today too! Nice day yesterday spent with parents and daughter.

All the leftovers are packed up and will be sent home with the kiddo so at least I know she will have a few good meals this week.
